Thanks to an exciting new partnership, the Academy of Natural Sciences is pleased announce today that it will host the fourth annual Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival in spring 2020.
The festival features exceptional new films about urgent environmental issues, explores the beauty of the planet, and highlights state-of-the-art research on topics including climate change, biodiversity loss, habitat change and sea-level rise. The festival will be held at the museum Thursday through Sunday, April 2–5.
And as a special perk, the Academy’s own scientists will serve as experts during festival panel discussions and will moderate questions and answers with the audience and scientists.
“The Academy’s history of pioneering, groundbreaking environmental research aligns perfectly with the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival’s vision for environmental awareness,” said Academy President and CEO Scott Cooper. “The festival has been growing year after year and has established a prominent position within the environmental film movement.”
Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival brings the planet to Philadelphia through the power of environmental films. The festival showcases exceptional new shorts and features about the beauty and fragility of the earth that entertain, inform and inspire personal action.

The Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival has also curated a series of interesting and inspiring new short films for several outdoor film programs in the city this summer, including The Oval’s Food & Flicks Fridays, hosted by the Department of Parks & Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy, as well as at Screenings Under the Stars at Penn’s Landing, put on by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation. The festival also will be providing environmental education-based summer programming at Cherry Street Pier and the Food Trust’s Night Markets.

How does one sign up?
