HOT OFF THE PRESSES! Meet Eusthenodon leganihanne, HOT OFF THE PRESSES! Meet Eusthenodon leganihanne, a new species of Devonian age (419-359 Ma) lobe-finned fish named this week by the Academy of Natural Sciences paleontologists. ⁠
Eusthenodon means strong tooth, and its name leganihanne is in reference to the Lenni Lenape word for Lycoming Creek, PA near where it was found. The new species is represented by isolated or partially cranial bones, limb bones, and body scales from several individuals. ⁠
